Jamshedpur, June 30: The Principal of DBMS College of Education, Dr Joohi Samarpita has refuted allegations that there were irregularities in her appointment for the post. The appointment of other teachers in the faculty of that institution has also been faulted by an enquiry committee set up by the Kolhan University.

Dr Samarpita claimed that she had been awarded Ph D in Social Science by the Patna University in 1994 and not in Sociology as claimed in the enquiry report. She also claimed that she was selected for the post of Principal of DBMS College of Education by a panel of experts nominated by the Vice Chancellor of Kolhan University. Dr Joohi Samarpita further stated that after her selection, the approval for affiliation of the College was given by the Kolhan University and that her selection as Principal was informed by the KU to NCET, Eastern Region.

The DBMS College of Education Principal has, instead, questioned the authenticity of the claims on her credibility by asking why the NCTE approved B Ed/D El Ed Programme without verifying the credentials of the Principal and other faculty members if there were irregularities in their selection, why KU gave affiliation to the College in 2018 and then renewed the affiliation in 2019 and 2020 if the faculty members did not meet the eligibility criteria as stipulated by NCTE, did the three member enquiry team while preparing its report properly scrutinize her Ph D qualification on the face of the fact that a certified copy of her Ph D certificate in Social Sciences was officially handed over to the team in spite of which it marked her qualification as Ph D in Sociology, why although the report was made out in March, 2020, was not submitted forthwith to the Governor of Jharkhand who is also the Chancellor of all universities in the State, why a copy of the report was not made available to the DBMS College of Education by the investigating team, why was the report made public through the print media even prior to any directive in the regard from the Chancellor and if there were any vested interests conspiring to damage the reputation of DBMS College of Education as also that of its Principal, Dr Joohi Samarpita.
