Expresses satisfaction over Andhra community’s preservation of culture

Jamshedpur, Feb 17: During his visit to Jamshedpur to attend a programme organized by Tata Steel to commemorate the city’s 100 years, Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu along with Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu paid a visit to Bistupur Ram Mandir to offer prayers. In the course of his visit, he toured the Ram Mandir complex and asked committee members about the history of the temple and the Andhra community residents of Jamshedpur.
The Vice President and Governor drove from the Tata Auditorium where the programme on 100 Years of Jamshedpur was organized, to Bistupur Ram Mandir.
After reaching the temple, M Venkaiah Naidu and Droupadi Murmu sanctified themselves by washing their hands and feet and then offered prayers to Lord Shri Ram, Mother Sita and Lord Hanuman.
They also visited the temple dedicated to Lord Balaji within the Ram Mandir complex. Pandit Kondomacharya presented the Vice President and Jharkhand Governor flowers and shawls. After offering ritualistic prayers, M Venkaiah Naidu talked to the Bistupur Ram Mandir officials and representatives of the Andhra community.
He was deeply impressed on learning that they and their forefathers grew up with the city. The Vice President of India turned emotional on learning how they had preserved and nurtured their cultural heritage through this long tenure, so far from their home state and complemented them for keeping their culture alive.
He told them, “It makes me so happy the way you have continued to nurture your culture through the long years of changing times. Preserving your national heritage is of prime importance. The regional culture is a facet of this land’s culture and these traditions should be preserved and propagated.”
While being taken around the complex, the Vice President expressed his pleasant surprise when he was shown a peepal tree that was 100 years old.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu planted a gooseberry sapling in the temple complex and entered his observations in the visitor’s register.
Earlier, the Vice President of India and Jharkhand Governor were welcomed to the temple with recitation of mantras by Andhra Pradesh Mandir Committee president BD Gopal Krishna, vice president Jami Bhaskar, general secretary Durga Prasad Rao and treasurer B Vijay Kumar.
Among those present during M Venkaiah Naidu and Droupadi Murmu’s Bistupur Ram Mandir visit were the Mandir committee president VD Gopal, SV Durga Prasad Sharma, Jami Bhaskar, Y Sriniwas, M Chandrashekhar who comprised a total of 38 member team as also some prominent citizens of the Andhra community in the city.
