Jamshedpur, Jan 16: Members of Jamshedpur Truck and Trailer Owners Association (JTTOA) have threatened to go on indefinite strike to protest against the no entry order issued by the SDO of Chaibasa cum district transport officer (DTO) Paritosh Thakur.
Addressing a meeting of the outfit members at Transport Nagar, Mango, here on Wednesday, Jasbir Singh, president of JTTOA, said, “The SDO had ordered no entry from 4 am till 8 pm on National Highway 75 in Haat Gamharia during the state Assembly elections. Now the elections are over, but the no entry order is still in effect. It is adversely affecting transport business as over 900 vehicles ply through NH75 every day from Kharagpur, Durgapur, Kandra and Gamharia. Due to no entry, the vehicles are not reaching their destination.”
The transporters said the no entry order is resulting in traffic jam on the highway. They said they were incurring huge losses due to the ‘unjustified’ and ‘unreasonable’ order given by the district administration. They said the government should not collect road tax, permit and insurance fees from transporters till the order is revoked.
Those present at the meeting included Pradip Sharma, Dhananjay Rai, Sujit Singh, Rajiv Singh, Manoj Singh, Ratnesh Singh and Amit Singh.
