Jamshedpur: In a novel way to boost vote percentage in Jamshedpur LokSabha constituency, about 31 shopkeepers in the city have decided to offer special discounts on their products for all the voters who will exercise their franchise on May 12.
Returning officer Amit Kumar along with Madhuri Dixit’s famous fan Pappu Sardar has taken this step to spread awareness on the importance of voting. This is for the first such a unique step is being taken in the city.This is a part of several novel ways being taken by the administration to increase vote percentage in Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat.
DPRO Rohit Kumar and Pappu Sardar told the media that so far 31 shops have announced this exemption. Kumar said that the shopkeeper will give genuine discount. Customers can go and check the rate (price) anywhere in the market, then only go and check the discount being offered. The voters will have to go to the shops and show their indelible ink on the finger.
Moreover, as part of the initiative, Dr S. K. Tiwari of Jeevan Jyoti Health Clinic has also announced two days May 12 and 13 for free treatment at his clinic located in Sakchi. The voters will have to show their fingers. Dr Tiwaritakes five hundred rupees as fee but will extend free service on two days. Keeping in mind the voters of every age group the shopkeepers have been finalised.
The Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency that has 15,51,297 voters had recorded 66.38 per cent of voting 2014. A total of 10.49 lakh voters exercised their franchise in the Jamshedpur LokSabha constituency that comprises the following six Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) segments Baharagora Ghatshila, Potka, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West.
