Jamshedpur, May 19: Jamshedpur on Tuesday (May 19) registered another Corona case when a Jugsalai resident tested positive for COVID-19 virus, taking the East Singhbhum tally to 6. Another positive case came up from Latehar on Tuesday taking the state corona positive to 233 while Kolhan region has seven positive cases.
Jugsalai resident had arrived in Jamshedpur via special train from New Delhi on May 15 and was taken to Loyola school for medical test. He was then admitted to Jugsalai quarantine centre. His report came positive on May 19 and now he has been shifted to COVID-19 ward of Tata Main Hospital.
The district administration has confirmed this case. Since the person reported straight to the Loyola school and there after at the quarantine centre no place has been marked as a containment or buffer zone.
So far, till the time of reporting, samples tested at the MGM College’s Department of Virology laboratory, revealed the positive case. The total number of coronavirus positives in East Singhbhum district with this new case has gone upto six.
The first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Jamshedpur on May 12 when a chartered accountant student, aged 24 and a female employee of a MNC, aged 28 both from Kolkata had returned home on May 8 evening on a private cab at Chakulia, around 80 km from of Jamshedpur become the first novel coronavirus positive cases to have surfaced from East Singhbhum district.
The third COVID-19 positive case was confirmed in Jamshedpur on Thursday, May 14. The third Jamshedpur patient had come to his in-laws place in Baridih, Jamshedpur from Kolkata and had been admitted to MGM Hospital in Sakchi. The Coronavirus patient was a migrant laborer and resident of Bihar who is saree trader in Kolkata.
The fourth coronavirus patient is a resident of Patamda near Jamshedpur, who arrived by the Sharamik Special train from Chennai had detrained at Ranchi Railway Station on May 13 and brought to Jamshedpur by bus by the district administration before being sent to the Mosabani quarantine centre, was tested coronavirus positive on May 15 and was shifted to Tata Main Hospital in the evening.
The fifth case was reported on May 18 when a 36-year old symptomatic man who hails from Bagunhatu under Sidgora police station had arrived on a truck upto Ranchi from Mumbai on May 15 and then availed of another truck to reach Jamshedpur tested positive.
Total positives in East Singhbhum now stand at six. East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Ravi Shanker Shukla confirmed about the detection of the sixth case.
With Saraikela-Kharsawan the only district in Kolhan Region remaining untouched by the COVID shadow, people of the district are on their guard.
DC urged the residents of Jamshedpur to cooperate the administration in fighting the pandemic and appealed not to move out of the home without reason.
