Jharkhand records 23rd corona death, 81 new cases
Ranchi/Jamshedpur, July 9: Jharkhand on Thursday recorded another coronavirus death as 63-year-old Deoghar man succumbed to the virus at Medanta Hospital in Ranchi. Elderly was reported COVID-19 positive a couple of days back after which he was treated at the private hospital. The death toll in Jharkhand has reached 23 with the death of an elderly on Thursday. According to hospital’s public relation officer the patient was suffering from chest infection and pneumonia. The deceased was brought to the hospital’s OPD on July 5 and seeing his condition doctors admitted the patient. After which the deceased’s sample was taken which tested positive couple of days back. He died during treatment on Thursday at around 11.15 am. Earlier on July 4, four people died of the virus in a single day including 2 from RIMS and 2 from Jamshedpur.
Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand have crossed 3200 mark with 81 new cases reported on Thursday, July 9. With 81 new cases the state tally has risen to 3273.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has reached 624. With 5 new cases reported on Thursday, July 9 the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 624. July 7 saw maximum cases being reported in single day in Jamshedpur with 58 positives. Earlier 43 cases came up on May 30 while July 2 recorded 45 cases in a single day.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 5 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Tuesday.
Of the new positives on Thursday, two persons have travel history while three persons came in contact with other COVID patients. 1 person has returned from Bangalore and 1 from Odisha. Of the positive cases 1 person is a resident of Kadma, 1 from Golmuri, 1 from Baridih, 1 from Agrico and 1 person resides at Sonari.
Of the 81 new cases 5 from Jamshedpur (East SInghbhum), 1 from Bokaro, 1 from Chatra, 5 from Deoghar, 4 from Dhanbad, 1 from Giridih, 2 from Godda, 2 from Gumla, 5 from Hazaribagh, 1 from Jamtara, 13 from Koderma, 11 from Latehar including 10 CRPF jawans and 1 officer, 6 from Lohardaga, 1 from Palamu, 14 from Ranchi, 4 from Sahebganj and 5 from Simdega.
Earlier on Saturday, 21 positives were reported in Jamshedpur along with two casualties in Sonari and Sakchi area of the Steel City.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 1035 and fatalities at 23 while 2210 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2169 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 624 cases out of a total of 3273. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
