Journalist among 5 succumb to corona in Jharkhand, 629 new positives reported

Jamshedpur/Ranchi, August 12: COVID-19 tally in Jharkhand is nearing 21,000 mark on Thursday, August 13 with 629 new cases reported till the filing of this report.   

Five people died of coronavirus in Jharkhand on Thursday taking the toll to 209. 

One death each has been reported from Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum district, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ranchi and Simdega.     

629 fresh cases were reported in the state on Thursday taking the state tally to 20950, till the filing of this report.

601 people have recovered and were discharged from various COVID hospital’s across the state on Wednesday. 13013 people have recovered in Jharkhand till date.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 3400 mark.     

138 new cases were reported on Thursday, August 13 taking the East Singhbhum tally to 3429.

The district administration spokesperson informed that 138 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Thursday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.

With 1 death in Jamshedpur on Thursday the death toll in East Singhbhum district has crossed 100 mark. More than 110 patients have died across three hospitals in the city including TMH, MGM and Tinplate Hospital.

Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 11, Chatra 1, Deoghar 12, Dhanbad 79, Dumka 1, East Singhbhum 132, Garhwa 23, Giridih 4, Godda 11, Gumla 13, Hazaribagh 16, Jamtara 2, Khunti 25, Koderma 8, Latehar 28, Lohardaga 9, Pakur 8, Palamu 31, Ramgarh 25, Ranchi 78, Sahebganj 4, Seraikela 53, Simdega 30 and West Singhbhum 19. The state corona tally has climbed to 20950.

The death toll in Jharkhand stands at 209 while corona positive tally has climbed to 20950.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.

The Jharkhand government has ordered an extension of lockdown related restrictions in the state outside containment zones, up to August 31, due to COVID-19 cases.

The order will come into effect from August 1. Meanwhile, Jharkhand government issued measures for the implementation of interstate quarantine protocol, to all Additional Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary, IG and Deputy IG.

The order said that “All economic activities permitted prior to this order shall remain permitted.” 

City photographer dies on way to hospital

Jamshedpur, Aug 13: City photographer and Golmuri resident Bunty died today at 6:30 pm while being taken to TMH for treatment of breathing problems. He was associated with Simran Studio. He was declared brought dead by doctors at the hospital. Bunty’s body has been kept at TMH and will be released after result of his swab test for COVID is reported.
