Jamshedpur: Police today busted a gang which used to fool people by selling shining granules claiming it to be gold. Those arrested were identified as Bodo Bhagat (35) Sindhu Soren (40), Dulari Tuddu (45). While Dulari is a resident of Odisha, both Bodo and Sindhu are residents of Potka. The police have recovered a motorcycle, about one gram gold, a 100 grams granules of gold-like metal, two voter-I cards from Dulari Tuddu and three mobile phones.
Superintendent of police (city) Prabhat Kumar said that a gang of criminals had cheated people in the name of polishing the gold ornaments. “We have registered three cases under Sitaramderathana, Bagberathana and Parsudihthana since August 22. They had sold a packet of some shining granules claiming it to be gold at Gitilata in Potka on Monday, the victim, Mohan Rajak,” said Kumar.
The city SP said one of the accused Bodo Bhagat had on Monday afternoon sold shining granules to Rajak for Rs 80,000 by claiming it to be gold.
“Rajak who is a resident of Kitadih in Parsudih got the shining granules checked up at a jewelry shop in the evening. Rajak decided to trap Bhagat and his associates. He called Bhagatthis morning, informing that he would take more such granules at his house in Kitadih. At the same time informed the Parsudih police.
As Bhagat and two of his associates came to Rajak’s house, the police arrested them all,” said the city SP while talking to the newsmen.
Kumar said on being interrogated, the three accused confessed that they had stollen three gold chains and other gold ornaments in the name of getting them polished in Sitaramdera and Bagbera localities since the past couple of weeks.
