Police take accused in custody, probe ordered

Jamshedpur, July 11: A mob of hundreds of residents of Azadnagar caught a youth, identified as Ashish Mukhi, a resident of Dhatkidih under Bistupur PS, for allegedly trying to kidnap a 10 year old boy on Thursday.
The mob handed over the accused to police after thrashing him severely. Police had to resort to slight lathicharge to disperse the unruly mob. Police officials said a probe was on into the allegations.
Sources said Mukhi was caught by several people near Chepa Pul area. The residents accused Mukhi of trying to lure Mohammad Taha, a minor, to go with him with the intention of kidnapping him.
Soon, a large number of people gathered at the scene and started beating Mukhi.
Later, Mukhi was handed to cops. But a section of people tried to manhandle him on the police station premises. Cops warned the mob and drove them out of the police station to control the situation.
