Jamshedpur, Nov. 25: Tata Steel franchise Jamshedpur FC faced a big blow on Sunday when their young star and local lad Gourav Mukhi was handed a six-month suspension by All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee in a case of age related anomaly with immediate effect.
The AIFF Disciplinary Committee found the player Gourav Mukhi guilty on the basis of the evidence presented by him, his admissions and the statements of Manager of U-16 AIFF academy in 2015.
In addition, the AIFF Disciplinary Committee also observed that the existing registration of Gaurav Mukhi, both in the Central Registration System (CRS) as well as the Competition Management System (CMS) shall stand cancelled and revoked with immediate effect, with liberty upon the player/ his appropriate club, to submit original valid appropriate documents for fresh registration under CRS and CMS, a press release by the AIFF disciplinary committee said.
“Based on the scrutiny of documents submitted by Gourav in 2015 and later, a recently concluded meeting of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) disciplinary committee has suspended Gourav Mukhi for 6 months effective November, 24, 2018.
While this is an unfortunate incident for JFC, we will co-operate fully with the AIFF and assist Gourav appropriately”, said a press communique issued by Jamshedpur FC management.
Gourav Mukhi’s age factor came up in October this year when the Jamshedpur lad played a brilliant match against Bengaluru FC and scored his first Indian Super League (ISL) goal that helped Jamshedpur FC play a 2-2 draw. This match earned him the tag of the youngest to score an ISL goal.
According to the passport, Gourav Mukhi’s birth date is 2002 but in the year 2015 it was mentioned that his date of birth was 1999. During the National Championship in 2015 when Gourav’s age anomaly came to light, AIFF suspended the Jharkhand coach for a year and put a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Jharkhand Football Federation.
Gourav Mukhi is a resident of Dhatkidih area of the Steel City. With this new action of AIFF the Jamshedpur lad’s career may be in doldrums. Till the AIFF Disciplinary Committee’s final decision comes in, Mukhi will not be able to play for Jamshedpur FC nor any state or national level tournaments.
Earlier, AIFF Disciplinary Committee summoned Mukhi for a hearing in the case and asked him to appear at the headquarters on November 24.
