Jamshedpur, July 5: A 52 year old employee of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) was found dead under mysterious condition in the toilet of Bhavissya Nidhi Bhavan at Ambagan, Sakchi, on Friday. His body was hanging from the window, almost touching the floor, cops said.
The deceased, identified as Ram Naresh Prasad, was an accountant posted at the sub-regional office of the EPFO at Sakchi and committed suicide in the night of Wednesday.
The police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College for post-mortem this afternoon.
According to police, prima facie it is a case of suicide. The employees at the EPFO’s sub-regional office created uproar over the suicide of their fellow-employee as the deceased was reportedly under extreme work pressure at the office.
“It is only because of pressure that led to Prasad’s suicide. We have to work till late in the night and Ram Naresh would also remain in the office till late. He must have gone into depression due to the job pressure and he took such drastic step,” said one of the employees,” said an employee.
Ram Naresh who used to stay at a rented house in Golpahari area in Parsudih along with his wife and daughter had been seen last on Wednesday evening. After the incident, the employees informed the EPFO authorities and Sakchi police officials about the incident.
Rajiv Kumar, OC, Sakchi police station, said.”It is a case of suicide. We are probing the incident. The door of the toilet was bolted from inside. But still we have sent the body to the MGM College mortuary for post-mortem,” said Kumar.
The OC, Sakchi said that the deceased was suffering from depression due to over work pressure.
