Jamshedpur, March 20 : Unknown criminals decamped with gold ornaments worth over Rs five lakh from a house at Garabasa under Golmuri police station area today.The theft took place at the house of Mohan Jaiswal at Garabasa.

OC, Golmuripolice station, Arjun Ram confirmed about the theft and said that they are investigating the case. ” As per our information the thieves have stolen gold ornaments after breaking up a steel almriah. The criminals had entered into the house having cut the grill’s lock,” said Ram. Jaiswal, who is a businessman said he had been to Ranchi some work.

“I was shocked when I received a call from my wife who informed me that there has been a theft in the house. On reaching home I found my wife and two children were in drowsy condition. It appears that the criminals had sprayed intoxicating drugs to the family members after entering into the house having cut the lock of a grill lock,” said Jaiswal.


The officer-in-charge, when asked, said that it was true that criminals have broken open the steel almirah, but it is not fact that the family members must have been subjected to any intoxicating substance through spray.

Despite claims from the district police the cases of the thefts are on the rise. Steps have been taken by the police administration needs to curb menace by taking measures like night patrolling and installation of barricades where police officials keep strict vigilance. Though the police claim to have pulled their socks up and increased their beat patrolling, the citizens are not ready to accept the claims.

“ Itis literally burglars ‘night out’ in the Steel City as a gang targeted residential area near the residence of Chief Minister Raghubar Das, triggering sensation among the residents.With rising cases of thefts and burglaries becoming a regular affair in the city, the administration must appoint extra security personnel and nights guards as a part of preventive measures.

It is time for the police to focus attention to curtail the increasing cases of burglary in the city. Thefts not only in residential areas but also in commercial establishments have been reported. Specially constituted patrolling squads should be been deployed under the limits Police Stations,” noted a local resident.
