Jamshedpur, July 3: Coronavirus case in Jharkhand is just two short of 2700 mark. 64 new positives were reported in the state on Friday, July 3. With 64 new cases, state corona tally has reached 2698.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 465 with 16 new cases reported on July 3. The district administration spokesperson informed that 16 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, 45 positives were reported including 19 CRPF Jawan from Sundernagar camp who have returned from different regions across India have tested positive.

Of the 16 new positives in Jamshedpur, 2 have travel history to 24 North Paragnas in Bengal, 1 has returned from Ahmadabad, 2 from Delhi and 1 positive arrived from Vijaywada. 

Of the 16 positives in Jamshedpur, 3 are resident of Sundernagar, 1 from Bagbera, 1 Barididh, 2 Kitadih, 1 Bistupur, 1 Jugsalai, 1 Tinplate and 1 positive resides at Potka.     

All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward.

Other positives in Jharkhand are from Ranchi 27, Dumka 3, Garhwa 3, Giridih 3, Koderma 8, Latehar 2 and Palamu 2 taking the state tally to 2698.

On Thursday, 25 patients have recovered in the state and were discharged from various COVID-19 ward.  

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 681 and fatalities at 15 while 2001 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. Seven deaths were reported in Ranchi, two each in Bokaro and Hazaribag and one each in Giridih, Gumla, Koderma and Simdega.

2060 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 465 cases out of a total of 2698. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
