Ranchi/Jamshedpur, July 8: Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand have crossed 3100 mark with 89 new cases reported on Wednesday, July 8. With 89 new cases the state tally has risen to 3145.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 600 mark. With 17 new cases reported on Wednesday, the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 604. Of the 17 New positives 5 have travel history while 12 have came in contact with COVID-19 positive patients.
Earlier, July 7 saw maximum cases being reported in single day in Jamshedpur with 58 ne positives. Earlier 43 cases came up on May 30 while July 2 recorded 45 cases in a single day.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 17 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Wednesday.
Of the new positives on Wednesday, 4 have travel history to Delhi while one positive has returned from Bangalore.
Of the new cases in Jamshedpur on Wednesday, 1 positive is from Bagbera, 1 from Bistupur, 5 from Tinplate, 1 from Telco, 2 from Kadma, 1 from Sonari, 1 from Chakulia, 2 from Sidhgora, 1 from Barididh and 1 person is a resident of Parsudih. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward. Four people from Jamshedpur recovered and were discharged TMH COVID-19 ward on Wednesday. Of the recovered 1 is a resident of Azadnagar, 1 Bistupur, 1 New Baridih and 1 from Baridih.
Five persons of a family in Tinplate including mother, two daughters, son and daughter-in-law have fallen prey to the virus. Four more Tata Pigments employees have tested positive on Wednesday. Tata Pigments positives are residents of Kadma Syndicate Colony, Telco, Tube Baridih and Parsudih Sarjamda Nidhi Tola.
Other positives in Jharkhand are from Dhanbad 23, Koderma 17, Sahebganj 10, Ranchi 6, Dumka 3, Seraikela 3, Simdega 3, Pakur 2, Chatra 1, Garhwa 1, Gumla 1, Khunti 1, Deoghar 1 taking the state corona tally to 3145.
On Wednesday, 66 patients have recovered from all over Jharkhand and were discharged from various COVID hospitals across the state.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 942 and fatalities at 22 while 2068 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. More than 2142 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease.
East Singhbhum district accounts for 604 cases out of a total of 3145. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
Earlier on July 4, in a single day the state has recorded its highest number of casualties as four people died due to Coronavirus on Saturday. Out of these 4, two have died in RIMS while two others passed away in Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur.
