Jamshedpur, May 30 : Students are taking life skills lessons at the 37th Battalion of National Cadet Corps (NCC). The 37th Battalion is training students from across Gumla,Daltonganj, and Jamshedpur in its NNC Combined Annual Training Camp at the Jamshedpur Co-operative College ground.
About 500 students from three districts are participating in this camp which includes sports, social services, adventure and, above all, hands-on experience with light machine guns and carbines.
Vijay Piyush, an NCC officer cum camp adjutant said that the camp gives also an opportunity to get build personality for the Indian Army. Many NCC cadets make it to the defence service. The training begins in camps like these.
The boys and girls have been divided into junior and senior divisions. The camp for seniors will continue till June 10.
“The response to the camp is overwhelming. Besides weapons training, the camp will also offer counselling for career in defenceorganisations,” added Piyush.
“Lessons on unity and discipline are important to succeed in life and we need to motivate the youths to imbibe it. These small experiences will enrich their lives,” an another official.
The cadets will participate in adventure activities like cycling, motor bike riding which will be helpful if the cadets carry out expedition as they do to fulfill social purposes. Firing, obstacle race, and drill are part of the training camp.
The camp organised to train students will also help them to participate in the NCC’s National Integration Camp, which is carried out on the national level. The camp is being organised in a college campus in order to inspire other students to join the NCC.
