Jamshedpur, June 17: The village of Kosafalia under Baharagora block of East Singhbhum district about 90 km from district headquarter Jamshedpur plunged into grief as the news of Ganesh Hansda (21) being martyred at border during clash with China at Galwan Valley reached this morning.

Hansda, who joined the army in 2018 hailed from Bihar Regiment and was deployed on LAC.
After completing training he was first deployed in Leh. Unmarried Hansda is survived by his parents Subda Hansda (father), Kapra Hansda (mother) and elder brother Dinesh Hansda.


Family members said that on Tuesday night they were informed by a senior army official that Hansda was martyred in brave fight.


However, the official information is yet to arrive. DC of East Singhbhum district Ravi Shankar Shukla said that they have not received any official communication in this regard. He is from Bihar Regiment and a resident of East Singhbhum.
Hansda had last spoken to his family members about two week back. He had last visited his family in January this year.


“We were planning to get Ganesh married sometime in the winter, but now we will have to perform his last rites,” said a family member.
Meanwhile, the mourners and sympathisers had made a bee-line at the house of Hansda ever since they came to know about his untimely death in cross-border clash.

Those turned at their martyr house include the politicians, social workers, residents and also the friends as well as relatives of Ganesh.


MP Bidhyut Baran Mahto rushed to his house and announced Rs 1 lakh for the family.”We are here to salute the great man who died for his country. Ganesh’s life will inspire youths of the country to fight for the nation,” said Mahto. He promised that he will make sure that the family every help from the Government.


Baharagora MLA Samir Mahanty also announced financial help to the martyr’s family. He said that Ganesh was true son of the soil and he has made us proud.


Former BJP state president Dineshanand Goswami and former Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi also visited martyr’s house and consoled the family members.
