Jamshedpur: A workshop was organized on Friday to spread awareness among women about their rights and duty as voters at Sakchi under the aegis of International Human Rights Association, Jharkhand state women’s organization.

The chief guest of the programme was the national general secretary of IHRA Bhism Singh. He said women will have to come forth and vociferate instead of playing second fiddle in family and society. He said women needed to realize their potential and unite to ensure that the benefits of the various government welfare schemes reach the man on the street.

Presiding over the programme, the state president of the outfit Usha Singh said the organization had organized the programme with the purpose to apprise women of their rights as individuals and their duties as voters. She appealed to women to cast their vote in favour of the right candidate instead of wasting it by not participating in the polling process.

Usha Singh said the campaign for women’s rights will be intensified after Holi. She said the organization will try its best to involve as many members as possible.

Among others present on the occasion included district president Chandana Chatterjee, Sita Singh, Gayatri Das, Purnima Pandey and Prabha Tiwary.
