Jamshedpur, Jan. 22: In a shocking incident, a couple died while its two minor daughters were seriously injured. The incident happened at Bisrampur village under Saraikela police station area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to reports, Rajiv Tiu (42) attacked and killed his wife Budhni (37) and injured his two minor daughters Anita (6) and Sunita (5) and their son Shiv (3)before committing suicide.

The incident happened in their home at Bisrampur village. The kin of the family rushed all of them to MGM Hospital where doctors pronounced Rajiv Tiu and his wife Budhni brought dead. While Anita and Sunita are undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital, Shiv is being treated at Saraikela Sadar Hospital.

The police have recovered two blood stained weapons from the house where the incident took place.
Immediately on receipt of information, OC, Seraikela police station, Naveen Prakash Pandey rushed to Bisrampur village and started investigation into the circumstances leading to the ghastly incident.

“It is too early to comment, however, we are of the opinion that the man, Rajiv Tiu being mentally disturbed, had first attacked his wife with a chopper and later started assaulting the children. Though there was no other eyewitness other than the three injured children, it is assumed that on seeing her husband trying to kill the children, the wife must have attacked him with another weapon,” said Pandey.
The OC said the neighbours of the victims had rushed to Tiu’s house on hearing the noise. They broke open the door to find both Rajiv and Budhni lying in a pool of blood while the three children were crying.
“We came to know that the neighbours arranged a vehicle and rushed all the members of the family to MGM Medical College Hospital, where the husband and wife were declared as brought dead,” said the OC.
Amit Tiu, nephew of Rajiv Tiu said his uncle used to work as a labourer, but since the past two months he had become mentally disturbed. “As we heard the noise we rushed to uncle’s house and broke open the door. No one saw who attacked whom first but as uncle was mentally sick, we assume he must have attacked aunt first and later was killed by aunty for trying to kill the two children,” Amit said.
