Jamshedpur, Oct 15: With South Eastern Railway ( SER ) announcing to run a number of special trains for tackling the extra rush of passengers for the upcoming festive season, Tatanagar railway station launched a cleanliness drive at its premises today. Several trains were washed and the premises cleaned.
Garden Reach, the headquarters of SER has announced running of 02829 Howrah-Tatanagar Special train. The train will run from Howrah every day between October 16 to November 30.
In the return direction, 02830 Tatanagar-Howrah Special will leave Tatanagar every day between October 16 and November 30.
The special will run as per the existing timings and stoppages of 12813/12814 Howrah-Tatanagar – Steel Superfast Express.
The special train between Howrah and Tatanagar will immensely benefit passengers during the festive season. SER also announced a special train between Howrah and Ranchi. The 02804 Howrah-Ranchi Special will run from Howrah at 10.10 pm every day between October 18 to December 1 and will reach Ranchi at 5.50 pm, the next day. In the return direction, 02803 Ranchi-Howrah Special will leave Ranchi at 9.30 pm, every day between October 17 to November 30 and will arrive at Howrah at 05.10 pm, the next day.
The special train will have one First AC, two AC 2 Tier, four AC 3 Tier and eleven Sleeper class coaches and will have stoppages at Kharagpur, Tatanagar and Muri.
Ranchi got a weekly special train for Mumbai. The 02812 Hatia – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus ( LTT ) special train will run between October 23 and November 27 every Friday. There will be six trips in all. As per a schedule released by SER the train will live Hatia railway station on Friday at 9:40 a.m. The train will reach LTT the next day at 1.35 p.m.
The officials at the ticket reservation counter here said : “From Durga Puja to Chhat we expect the passengers to rush to maintain the same trend and it is therefore additional arrangements are being made on a temporary basis.
He went on to add that during the pujas, people traveling between New Delhi and Kolkata increases in manifold so it is essential to ensure proper journey of the passengers. “We are also planning to start new facilities for bookings and other for the passengers,” noted a senior officer of SER.
Meanwhile, the decision of SER to introduce coaches has given people a reason to smile. “The decision is a welcome move from the Railways. This would ensure a peaceful journey. One can look forward to meeting relatives and friends during the festive season,” said U K Srivastava, a senior functionary of Chotanagpur Passengers’ Association.
