Jamshedpur, Sept. 18: A team constituted by the Health Department of Government of Jharkhand visited Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur (TMH) on September 18, 2020 to review the COVID-19 facilities and the medical protocols being followed by TMH during the pandemic. The team headed by Baghmare Prasad Krishna, Joint Secretary, Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, GoJ along with Dr Ajit Kumar Prasad, Additional. Director, Health Directorate, Ranchi, Dr Devesh Kumar, Assistant Professor (PSSM), RIMS, Ranchi, Dr Balram Jha, Professor (Medicine), MGM Hospital and Dr Amarendra Kumar, SRTL-WHO.
The visiting team was taken around the COVID facilities at TMH and briefed on various precautionary measures and steps being taken to cater to the increasing patient load at TMH. Dr Rajan Chaudhry, Advisor, Medical Services, Tata Steel talked about the ramp-up of testing facilities and setting up of enhanced critical healthcare services like ventilators (invasive and non-invasive), High Frequency Nasal Oxygen (HFNO) and oxygen beds to battle the threat posed by the pandemic. The recovery rate of patients at TMH has gone up to 80.80% (as of September 17, 2020), while more than 40000 tests have been conducted till date.
The visiting team expressed satisfaction over the services provided by TMH and appreciated the relentless efforts of the doctors and medical staff to mitigate the ongoing crisis. The team said that the visit was more of learning and sharing exercise and were impressed to see the dedication and sincerity with which TMH is addressing COVID.
