Jamshedpur, Sept. 27: The district health department has set a target to conduct 12500 tests tomorrow. The drive will be conducted at hotspots and containment zones. The department has launched vans to visit containment zones and detect cases quickly. A mobile testing facility with a team of three people will be on standby in each of the city’s zones to attend to symptomatic cases.

Another official said the administration had previously directed random tests for some sections of society on priority. Now the plan is to target those who are regular in touch with the crowd.The drive will be carried through Baharagora, Chakulia, Dhalbhumgarh, Dumaria, Ghatshila, Jugsalai, Musaboni, Patmada, Potka and urban areas. 

He went on to add that the administration has decided to test everyone in the district to prevent community spread of the disease. More tests would only help the administration to prevent further spread of the disease. He added it was the responsibility of the government as well as individuals to contain the spread of COVID19.

Meanwhile, East Singhbhum has crossed 12500 COVID-19 positive cases in just four months. The active cases are around 9000. Trends in the city are suggesting that every second person who is being tested is positive for COVID-19. The recovery rate of the patient has also improved to 82 per cent in the district.

The district health department has issued an order making it mandatory for people working at hotels and restaurants to undergo a rapid antigen test for COVID-19. The order has been issued under the Disaster Management Act and COVID-19 Regulations. .

 During the two-day drive 600 samples were taken from hotel and restaurants staff. In the first phase they have covered big hotels and restaurants . The administration has set a target to conduct more COVID-19 tests, he said adding the direction for compulsory tests was in that regard.
