Jamshedpur: The manjhi, nayake, pradhan and paragana of the tribal communities of the state will be felicitated by the state government for leading the communities in social and traditional activities.

This was announced on Saturday by the state tribal welfare and transport minister Champai Soren.oren was speaking during a meeting held at the district administration headquarters.

He was addressing the meeting of the Eat Singhbhum Manjhi Paragana Mahal convened by the district administration. The meeting was also attened byeputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal, MLA of Baharagora Vidyut Varan Mahato and the MLA of Ghatsila Ramdas Soren.

Many other officials of different departments of the district administration were also there during the meeting. In his address, the minister aid the state government had plans to give proper recognition to the traditional leaders of Adivasis of the state.

Those leading the role of the manjhi, paragana, nayake and pradhan of various tribal communities across the state will be given their due place of honour by the government very soon, said Soren.

Soren said the district administration had decided to set up a committee comprising nine members to select the people who will be felicitated as per the government plan. The date of felicitationof such people will also be declared soon, he said.

The proposed committee will include two members from the district administration and the remaining seven from the tribal communities.

The committee will have a duty to make sure that no deserving person is left out of consideration while planning their felicitation. The minister said the committee will be formed in a week and the work on felicitation will soon start. Many people were present during the meeting today.
