Jamshedpur: Reputed footwear brand Sreeleathers has launched a campaign to save the girl child. The company has been running an awareness programme to create awareness among the people and stress the importance of the girl child in the society.
Speaking about the campaign, Shekhar Dey, co-proprietors of the company, said the company recognized the equal rights of women and was putting in sincere efforts to ensure that no girl child is neglected in any family.
“We are running a woman empowerment and awareness campaign in the city. This is meant to ensure that the girl child does not get ignored due to lack of awareness and initiative. The birth of a girl child is not a bane. Rather it is a great boon to the family and the society. We all should join hands and work out ways to ensure best upbringing of our daughters,” said Dey.
Inaugurating the ‘Beti Bachao Abhiyan’ of the company, Dey said girls were capable of doing things which could be reasonably expected of them under any given circumstance. He said the company needed the cooperation of the people and the media to spread the message on girlchild and their protection from various social evils.
Dey said the intellectuals of the society need to come forward and huddle together to find out better ways to deal with the problems affecting the girl child. He said the people should not and cannot evade their responsibility in taking proper care of the girl child.
The company has intensified its campaign for the girlchild through FM radio, streetplays and various other programmes. The marketing manager of Sreeleathers Tushar Kranti Sarkar proposed a vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme. He said the company will continue the campaign.
