Jamshedpur: A free English coaching centre for Adivasi and other backward caste children is soon going to be opened in Baliguma, courtesy Anima Das Memorial Charitable Trust.

According to PN Das, chairman of the Trust, the very purpose of opening the coaching institute is to provide quality education to the under-privileged rural youths who are often deprived of it. In villages, children often lag behind in the knowledge of English, both verbal and written. This becomes a major drawback in the education given to them, he said.

Das said the local villagers are helping the outfit set up the coaching centre for a bright future of their children.

It is a really nice initiative, I know another organisation called Katha which helps the education of children who can’t afford it. Katha has several programmes in place to help check poverty across the country. Katha Lab School, Katha’s Slum Resurgence Initiative (SRI), Katha English Academy (KENGA), Katha School of Entrepreneurship (KSE), etc. are some of the many programmes Katha runs to ensure the child receives holistic learning. Katha has been the recipient of the Millennium Alliance award 2013, the ICICI India Inclusive Award 2012, the North India Winner of India NGO Awards 2009 and it has also been nominated for the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
