Seraikela, Jan 11: Seraikela-Kharsawan district police busted an inter-state gang of robbers by arresting four of its members on Satuurday. They also recovered Rs 1.65 lakh cash looted recently by the gang from a businessman in Nimdih, sources said.
Those arrested were identified as Pashupati Nath Mahato, Subhash Singh, Mahadev Pramanik alias Lulka and Ramchandra Das alias Laltu Das.
According to SP Karthik S, the accused persons were caught in a series of raids at their whereabouts. A police team was set up to nab the accused persons during investigation into the incident of loot of cash worth Rs 1.8 lakh on 9th January last. Three criminals had looted the cash from one Bhishma Nath Mahato of Paharpur (under Bodam PS) near Dhobodungri on his way to Balrampur, Purulia.
Police also recovered a motorcycle used by the accused persons. The loot victim was going to bring various goods for his shop on a pick-up van. Subhash Singh, one of the accused, was also sitting in the van. He informed the gang members about the victim’s movement over phone. On reaching an isolated place, he got down from the vehicle. Thereafter, his associates committed the loot and fled the scene, said the SP.
