Born on June 5, 1936 in a family of three brothers and three sisters in an aristocratic family in Mangalore city in Karnataka, Flavie Dsouza (Sister Flavian) was the fifth child. She was fond of all the little happiness and enjoyment life could bring though she longed to take up teaching as her profession. After her schooling at the age of 19 she gave her luxurious life and decided to join the congregation of The Apostolic Carmel. Hence her long and eventful journey began from Sacred Heart School Jamshedpur. One by one she accomplished the goals she set for herself.

She headed many schools as the principal of Carmel School Patna, Carmel School Hazaribagh, Sacred heart Jamshedpur and Carmel School Buxar. She was the founder and Principal of Carmel Junior College in Sonari Jamshedpur.  CJC was the youngest school which flourished during her tenure.

She also took over Bal Vihar – a school for the hearing impaired while she was in Sonari Jamshedpur.

Apart from the schools where she taught and where she headed she has a big contribution to many lives by building them up capable for doing jobs, educating, showing them the right path, bringing them to light from dark.
