Jamshedpur: With Indian Super League (ISL) putting Indian football on the global map and Jamshedpur Football Club all set to play its historical first ISL match at its home ground on December 1, the street festival Jam@street was agog with football fervour on Sunday. The Jam@street was organised today on the Bistupur Main Road from 6 am to 9 am.

The participants spent time with their JFC team players who enjoyed interacting with football lovers of the city. Wearing their passion for the game on their sleeves, the entire team of JFC attended the Jam@Streets and enjoyed by dancing and clicking selfies with their fan following in the city.

Tata Steel, corporate services, vice-president, Sunil Bhaskaran; Jusco managing director, Ashish Mathur and other executives along with the JFC team members also showcased the official team jersey at Jam@street.

With Tata Steel winning the Jamshedpur franchise in the upcoming season of the coveted ISL, steps are being taken to establish new identity for the stadium. The company won the bid with Jamshedpur as the host city and part of ISL.

The eighth edition of Jam@Street, street festival, saw an overwhelming response with round 8000 participation. The visitors belonged to in the age group between 15 and 25 years either danced, clicked selfies or walked along the Bistupur Main road.

Jam@Streets was conceptualised by Tata Steel, Jusco, Jamshedpur Hoteliers’ Association to promote health and environment in a unique way in Jamshedpur. The monthly Sunday event was initiated on the lines of Raahgiri in Gurgaon, New Delhi and Bhubaneswar.

Jam@Streets Day had sporting events like roller skating, badminton, basketball, yoga, cycling, aerobics, golf and much more. Together with games, there were rock bands adding to the Sunday euphoria with selfie corner, street painting, magic show, dandiya, etc. The usual busy Bistupur Main Road wore a festive look as people from different walks of life participated in it.

Jam@Streets day is akin to a street festival with goodies which can be indulged in by the whole family. It has sporting events like roller skating, badminton, basketball, yoga, cycling, aerobics, golf, Carrom, Aerobics and much more., said an official of Jusco, the main organiser of the event.

The food stalls were managed by the Jamshedpur Hoteliers Association (JHA) that served delicacies dosa idli, pizza, pastries and fresh salads.

Taking a cue from the ‘Rahagiri’ organised at Gurgaon, Mumbai, and Bhubaneswar, the Steel City has embraced the concept of vehicle-free streets on Sundays, under the banner Jam@Streets to promote good health, street food, sports and fun activity.
