Jamshedpur, March 14: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and four other leaders were acquitted due to lack of evidence in a case of violation of Model Code of Conduct on Thursday.
The case dates back to 2014 when then JMM leader Bidyut Baran was attending a party conference at Michael John auditorium, Bistupur. He was accompanied by four other party leaders, Ramdas Soren, Mohan Karmakar, Sheikh Badruddin and Dulal Bhuiyan.
JMM activists had installed party flags and banners at Sakchi roundabout despite imposition of Model Code of Conduct by the district administration following the announcement of elections. Mahato was one of the five conveners of the programme. A case was lodged against him and the other four leaders by the district administration.
