Three bodies recovered, search on in Baroda Ghat and Adityapur

Jamshedpur, March 22: In a tragic incident, five persons drowned in Kharkai river in separate incidents near Baroda Ghat and Adityapur on Friday. Three others were saved by local residents, police said.
The deceased were identified as Golu alias Adarsh, Rishabh and Sanjeev Kumar. Sanjeev Kumar was a former army jawan employed as a security guad at Bank of Baroda.
In the incident at Baroda Ghat, six students, all residents of East Plant Basti, Burmamines, had gone to Kharkai for taking bath. The six had gone near Adityapur bridge. On their return, one of the students lost his balance and slipped into the deep waters.
While saving each other, all started drowning. On seeing this, few local residents rushed and saved three of them, but three students were washed away. The body of Golu alias Adarsh was fished out by local divers. Two others, Abhishek and Suraj, drowned in the incident.
In this incident, one Rishabh of Sahara City, Adityapur, drowned in the Kharkai near Platinum Green City under RIT police station area. Ex-army man Sanjeev Kumar was bathing nearby. He tried to save the youth, but himself drowned.
BJP president seeks NDRF help
Mail News Service District BJP president Dinesh Kumar Friday requested the district administration to send a team of Natural Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to Baroda Ghat and Adityapur for carrying out a search for the bodies of three students who drowned in the Kharkai today. Expressing sorrow over the deaths, he said the local police were searching for the bodies with the help of divers without success till this evening.
