Jamshedpur, July 16: West Singhbhum district reported first coronavirus death as Chaibasa elderly succumbed to the virus on Thursday. July 16 saw two people die of COVID-19 at Tata Main Hospital taking the death toll to 7. 81-year-old Chaibasa resident who came from containment zone was admitted to TMH three days back after falling sick. Her swab sample was taken and she tested positive. She was suffering from diabetes and High Blood Pressure. This is the seventh death within 12 days at TMH and is the first death reported in West Singhbhum district. The last rites of deceased woman will be performed in East Singhbhum’s Jamshedpur.
The second death reported at TMH was a 45-year-old Birsanagar resident. With this four people have died in the span of just three days. The death toll in Jamshedpur has reached 6 while 7 deaths have been reported at TMH in 12 days. Coronavirus case has crossed 700 in East Singhbhum district . The first positive case was reported on May 12 where a girl and a boy tested positive. In Jharkhand, five people died of the virus on Thursday, July 16, including 1 from Jamshedpur, 1 from West Singhbhum, 2 from Godda and 1 in Ranchi.
