Jamshedpur, Nov. 27: The police have revealed that firing incident at Pipla that caused two persons to sustain grievous bullet injuries was a result of an attempt to manage eyewitnesses of a murder case registered with the MGM thana on September 10 last year. The gun-shot victims, Chandra Shekhar Gope (35) and Imtiaz alias Gabbar (45) are struggling for their lives at the Tata Main Hospital. The police team met Gope and took his version but condition of Gabbar is critical and is still on the oxygen.

The police have, however, succeeded to find out the names of the two persons responsible for the shootout on Gope and Gabbar and the two were identified as Rajkumar Singh alias Baba and Deewana. Both the attackers are residents of Baliguma and are absconding.

MGM police station OC, Arvind Kumar said that the investigation is moving on right direction and they have gathered crucial inputs. Chitrasen and Subodh along with two others had shot at and fatally injured a 27-year-old youth Amit Kumar at Baliguma.

” According to our probe in the case, two youths, Kunal Kumar and Deepak Kushbaha who were Amit’s friends and in front of which the murder took place were the eyewitness on behalf of the prosecution. Gabbar who is a resident of Azadnagar and a friend of Gope had struck a deal with the two eyewitnesses for making them turn hostile in the court,” said the OC.

The OC said as per the deal Rs 12 lakh was to supposed to be paid to Kunal and Deepak for turning hostile and Rs 2 lakh had already been paid to the duo.
“As per our inputs Gabbar was allegedly not willing to pay the remaining Rs 10 lakh. As a result of which two men, Baba and Diwana, were supposed to talk to Gabbar and Gope about paying the eyewitness the remaining amount. While the talk was still on, Baba and Diwana who were sitting on the rear seat of the car shot at Gope and Gabbar simultaneously and fled,” said the officer-in-charge.

The OC said they have recovered four empty cartridges from the car which they have seized. Arvind Kumar said that they could know all this from the statement that Gope made before them on Tuesday morning.
