Jamshedpur : In a major fire mishap cash and goods worth over Rs 25 lakh were gutted as  in Abdul Rahim Complex on Milkhiram Line in Sakchi police station area this morning.

Owner Abdul Salam ( 55), a Kashmiri garment trader lost Rs 8 lakh in cash that was  gutted  in the fire.

Sources said that the fire broke out due to an electrical short circuit at about 9 am today at the hall on the second floor of Abdul  Rahim Complex.

The trader from Kashmir said stock of garments which include jacket, sweaters, shawls and other warm cloths getting reduced to the ashes.

A fire brigade belonging to the Jharkhand Fire Brigade came only half-an-hour of my coming to the spot. 

Salam, who runs his business by taking loan from a money-lender in Kashrir said that soon after the flame had vanished he checked the brief-case where he had kept Rs 8 lakh of his sale-proceeds.

Officer-in-charge of Sakchi police station, Gopal Prasad Singh said There was a fire in a building at Abdul Rahim Complex and the fire was doused after a fire brigade was pressed into service.

Singh said that they are investigating into the cause of fire, and from the preliminary investigation it appeared that it was due to an electrical short-circut.
