Ranchi, May 29: The coronavirus cases are increasing in Jharkhand with every passing day. Jamshedpur which was in green zone has also seen a sudden rise in corona cases. 15 new positive cases were reported in Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum) on Friday taking the total corona tally in the district to 52. Jharkhand saw a jump of 46 new cases on Friday, May 29 which has upped the total cases in the state to 523. Along with 15 cases in Jamshedpur, 10 cases came up from Hazaribagh, 9 from Ramgarh, 7 from Koderma, 2 from Bokaro and 3 from Dhanbad. The state also reported its fifth death due to COVID-19 on Friday when a Giridih person succumbed to the deadly virus. The person’s report came positive after his death, state health secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni confirmed the death of the fifth patient. All the new corona patients have been admitted to COVID-19 hospital while the contact and travel history of all are being traced. After Ranchi (129 corona positives) Hazaribagh has most number of cases (65 positives). In East Singhbhum district five positives were detected earlier in the day while ten new cases came up late in the evening taking the total cases to 52 in the district with 15 new of Friday, May 29. Of the 15 cases, 2 have returned from Mumbai, while other three have came back from Delhi, Chennai and Gurugram. All the five were in quarantine at MGM Hospital’s isolation ward. Of the five patients detected earlier, one is a resident of Sitaramdera, another from Mango, one from Bagbera, one from Telco while fifth positive is a resident of Darbhanga who came to Jamshedpur via train and was admitted to MGM Hospital. Of the total positives in Jharkhand more than 300 are migrants who have returned to the state after May 1st. The fifth deceased in Jharkhand is a resident of Jamua block of Giridih who was admitted to Medica Hospital in Ranchi on May 26. His last rites have also been performed. His report came positive on May 28 at Medica. He had returned to Jharkhand from Surat on May 9.
May 29 came as a relief for Jamshedpur as the second corona positive in the district defeated the deadly disease to be discharged from Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur. The same day 15 positives were reported in the district in the evening.
Several neighbourhoods in the city at Baridih and Sidhgora, which had managed to stave off coronavirus for the past 50 days, are now on the city’s containment-zone map with fresh cases being reported from them. Areas under Vidhyapati Nagar of Baridih have been barricaded at the entry points to keep outsiders away. The cases reported from Sidhgora and Baridih located in the eastern fringe of the city where the administration has set up three containment zones, leading the total number of containment zones to four in the city and sixth in the East Singhbhum district.

Khunti has become the 23rd district in the state to be infected with COVID-19 virus. One case has been reported from Khunti. Sahebganj is the only district which till date free from coronavirus.
Most of the corona positives are migrant workers. All the positives in East Singhbhum have travel history and have returned from other states.

Capital Ranchi accounts for more than 100 cases out of a total of 522. The Hindpiri locality in Ranchi is worst affected by the virus. This hotspot area is being manned by the CRPF personnel. Jharkhand has reported four deaths due to coronavirus so far.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease.
Five people have succumbed to the disease so far – two in Ranchi, one each in Giridih, Bokaro and Koderma.
