Chaibasa, Jan 16: West Singhbhum police here on Thursday claimed to have solved the mystery behind the killing of Adityapur youth, Mangal Soren, by arresting five persons. They said extramarital affair with a woman led to what they called a ‘pre-planned murder’.
Those arrested were identified as Mangilal Jonko, Bono Singh Jonko, Gunal alias Budhram Jonko, Ghanshyam alias Repo Jonko and Manko Jonko, all relatives of the woman and resident of School Basa Tola, Tantnagar.
According to Chaibasa sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Amar Kumar Pandey, “The deceased had an extramarital affair with the wife of Mangilal Jonko. Mangilal had warned him once on coming to know of the affair. He killed Mangal with the help of his family members after he saw him with his wife in his house on 7th January last. Mangal was killed with lathis.”
After killing the youth, the accused persons threw his body in the forest near Kanda Manda hill late night on 8th January. The body was tied with plastic ropes.
Police recovered a black leather purse containing Aadhar Card, two photographs, cash, bamboo stick, a scooter and six mobile phones from the possession of accused persons.
Cops had recovered Soren’s body on getting a tip-off from local residents.
