Jamshedpur, Aug 14: Tata Steel’s Urban Services department is organizing the 6th edition of Exhibition Cum Sale, of an extensive range of handicrafts and readymade garments prepared by women of Jharkhand. The exhibition will be held from August 16 – 18, 2019 at the Sonari Community Centre, Kagalnagar, Jamshedpur. It will provide an opportunity to the urban women and artisans, hailing from various local communities to showcase their products and in turn earn a livelihood from the sales proceeds. The timing of the Exhibition cum Sale is from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The artisans / groups that will be part of the exhibition include-Kathakali Ghosh (Chayanika Boutique) – Fabrics, Antara Chakraborty (Ashwarya Boutique)-Sarees, Sarmistha Das (Sarmistha Collection)-Ready – made cloth, Sima Sarkar & Rumi Bagchi (Shree Boutique)-Sarees, Kakoli Nandi (Jyotirmoy Collection)-Artificial jewellery, Sangeeta Bhattacharjee (Bulbuli Collection)-Fabrics, Priyanka & Mala Sengupta (Malika Collection) -Saree, suits, Barnali Haldar & SPP Pradhan (Queens Collection) – Artificial jewellery, Rina Das (Anikya Collection)-Salwar suits/ saree, Sonali Chandra (Style File)-Fabrics, Arpita Chatterjee (Arpita Collection) -Decorative items, Hema Gupta & Mandhir Kaur (Trends Collection)-Decorative items, Krishna Dutta (Creator)-Saree/ baby items, Monika Banerjee (Monika’s Creation)-Soft toys, baby items.
Tata Steel’s Urban Services department is also running the ‘Karigar’ outlet in Jamshedpur. This initiative aims to empower women and promote rural handicrafts among the citizens of Jamshedpur. The outlet was started by Urban Services department of Tata Steel on February 6, 2002 at shop No. 13/4, Bistupur market. It is currently facilitating sales and marketing of handicraft items of the groups supported by them and their associates under CSR programs.
