1 admitted to MGM hospital
Jamshedpur, Dec 14: Soon after Sonari BJP Office Treasurer Shahsi Shekhar Prasad along with eight others were arrested by the Police on Friday evening for pelting stones at the Sonari Police Station on December 11 the workers and party members protested against the police action at Sonari PS on late Friday night.
The arrested faced hard times as they were jumped and beaten by police, Shashi had to go through the worst of time as he was the most tortured, was severely injured and later was admitted to MGM Hospital still under police custody.
The party members headed by BJP Mahanagar President, Rajkumar Srivastav and Ajay Srivastav after hearing about the incident left for MGM Hospital protested against the police action and arrest of Shashi and offered him treatment.
On the occasion Rajkumar Srivastav said Shahsi will file a case against the police officials who have deliberately arrested him and beat him up.
Commenting on the incident DSP Jagdish Prasad Yadav said that as FIR has been lodged against the accused and according to legal options available all of them have to be sent behind bars.
Talking to the media persons today at the Bistupur Police Station, City SP Karthik S. said that after scanning the CCTV footage we have arrested the accused, Shashi was clearly seen pelting stones at the Sonari Police Station premises along with the residents of Tillo Basti, added SP. Karthik S. futher informed that off the eight arrest we have made seven have been sent behind bars while the main accused Shahsi Shekhar is under treatment at MGM Hospital.
It may be noted that atleast five police personnel were injured after locals turned violent and pelted stones at Sonari police station in Jamshedpur on Wednesday, Dec 11. The slum dwellers were protesting arresting a youth on charges of mobile theft .
The attackers, all belonging to 15 to 25 years age-group pelted stones at the policemen posted at the police station located in the densely-populated area of the city.
Several women too were involved in the act.
In the attack, which continued for an hour, five policemen sustained injuries. The injured cops were admitted to MGM Medical College and Hospital emergency for treatment of their injuries.
