Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar convened a meeting of District Excise Advisory Committee on Thursday. He said the state government had decided to conduct private bandobasti of liquor shops for the year 2019-20.

In view of the said directive, the excise department has been asked to increase the number of country, foreign and composite liquor shops in the district, he said.

The DC asked the excise officials to select those plots or space for liquor shops where there is no controversy or dispute as per a Supreme Court order. He said the number of shops recommended for bandobasti should be limited so as to ensure smooth bandobasti.

At present, there are 19 foreign, five country and 51 composite liquor shops in East Singhbhum. Many district administration officials including SSP Anoop Birtharay and Assistant Excise Commissioner were present during the meeting.
