Jamshedpur: Drone camera and CCTV cameras will be a part of elaborate security arrangements that the district police has planned for a peaceful Durga Puja celebration across the steel city. Moreover, about 2,500 policemen are also being deployed at the strategic points on the main arteries of the city and also near the Puja pandal for the safety and security of pandal hoppers.
Senior superintendent of police, AnoopBirtharay said of the 311 Pujas in the city, fair are organised in 24 puja venue.” We are taking every step to ensure safety of the people. The city has been divided in five zones which will be looked after deputy superintendents of police.
We will use drone cameras in all these zones like Jugsalai-Bagbera-Station, Kadma-Sonari-Bistupur, Sakchi-Sitaramdera-Golmuri-Burmamines, Mango and Telco-Birsanagar-Govindpur-Parsudih, especially at the pujas where fair are organised,” said Birtharay while talking to the newsmen.
Speaking about the use of CCTV cameras, the senior SP said that with additional 55 surveillance cameras were installed, the total number of cameras has gone up to 205.”Moreover, there will be magistrate deputed at the CCTV monitoring cell at composite control room (CCR) at Sakchi police station premises. The magistrate with the help of CCTV surveillance officials will enable police, especially the mobile police to reach any spot within minimum time having gathered CCTV footage on the screen at the CCTV monitoring cell,” he said.
“The CCTV camera phenomenon is not new to this city but, in the wake abnormal situation the country is facing these days the need for third eye has become necessary. And, it is purely security measure administration wish to take up in the larger interest of the denizens,” said, Ram Babu Singh, president, durga puja central committee.
The city for last several years has been witnessing the swell in the strength of the puja revellers and at the same time many of the puja pandals have been installing CCTV’s for obvious purpose without any intervention of the law enforcing agencies.
Meanwhile, security in the city has been enhanced as Navaratrastarted, with increased police patrolling and deployment of policemen in plainclothes at different strategic points of the city.
