Jamshedpur, Nov. 10: Deputy collector of Chief Minister camp office, Sanjay Kumar on Thursday visited several leprosy homes at Nav Jeevan colony in New Baradwari and listed to the issues faced by leprosy patients in getting ration through biometric system.

Leprosy patients had raised matter in front of Chief minister Raghubar Das during his visit to Jamshedpur last week. CM Das had ordered the deputy collector to solve the matter of the leprosy patients at the earliest.

Residents of Nav Jeevan Ashram said, Aadhar card of several leprosy patients who don’t have fingers were made through their eyelids but when ration distribution system started through biometric, there was only option of finger print. This has made getting rations very difficult.

Present on the occasion, Md. Jainuddin, general secretary of leprosy welfare samiti, said, every person in the colony has Aadhar card and all get pension within time but main issue is with the ration and the leprosy patients have not received the ration for the month of October.

Deputy collector also inspected the PDS shop of Ramnath Singh situated at Gandhi Ashram. On the occasion dealer Ramnath Singh informed that those leprosy patients who can’t give finger print can get ration through OTP (One Time Password) but the beneficiary should have registered mobile number but that’s missing.

Officers Vindeshwari Tatma and Ashok Kumar said, the matter has been discussed with senior officers and soon matter will be solved.

District supply officer (DSO) Dilip Tiwary, said, PDS shops at Nav Jeevan Ashram and Leprosy colony at Burmamines, have been told to supply ration through offline mode.

Present on the occasion were Bhagat Singh, Jhadu Majhi, Bhula Mahato, Nirmal Mahato, Uma Behera, Krishna Bhoi, Kalicharan Munda, Ration dealer Ramnath Singh along with Gourav Ghosh, Birendra Dogra and others.
