Jamshedpur, Oct 17: In view of the festive season ahead, Divisional Railway Manager ( DRM ) of South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur division V K Sahu on Saturday expected the Tata Nagar railway station to take stock of preparations.
After reaching here this morning he went around the Tatanagar railway station accompanied by senior railway officials.
The DRM took stock of railways plans to tackle the rush of passengers during the festive season ahead. He also took stock of construction work of the new goods shed. He announced that the tender process of the parking area outside the railway station would be completed soon. This will help in streamlining parking of vehicles.
Sahu was happy over the Railway Board’s decision of introducing several Puja special trains.
He asked his subordinates to ensure that passengers are not inconvenienced during the festival time.
” We have inspected the facilities and are satisfied with the facilities at the Tatanagar railway station. But, a lot needs to be done. You will find more passenger amenities coming up at Tatanagar in another few months or so,” said an official.
The Tatanagar station assumes importance in view because it is located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. Before COVID-19, the station used to see a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers.
During the inspection he focussed on the condition of platforms, station buildings, lighting arrangements, running rooms, waiting halls, booking offices, computerised reservation centre and the circulating areas.
