Jamshedpur No Comments on District project selection committee meeting: JNAC to purchase 30,000 bins 227

Jamshedpur, Nov. 2: The district project selection committee meeting chaired by East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar at the district collectorate in the presence of representative of Jamshedpur MP and representatives of Jamshedpur West MLA and Jamshedpur East MLA approved proposal of purchasing bins for over 30,000 households in Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) command areas.

“We want to ensure cleanliness in our areas. We hope to begin the door-to-door collection of garbage from new year itself after receiving allocation from the government for purchase of nearly 30,000 bins,” said JNAC special officer Krishna Kumar.

Sources in JNAC said that efforts to start the door-to-door collection of waste is targeted in January in order to earn good rankings at the Swachh Survekshan scheduled from February next year.

“Jusco has already been successful in implementing door-to-door collection of waste after segregation of dry and wet waste from household in company areas.

We hope to roll out the project from January onwards after completing the purchase of bins and are hopeful of getting the allocation from the state government after the nod of the project selection committee at the district level,” added Krishna Kumar. Incidentally, Jamshedpur was ranked 30th in the Swachh Survekshan 2018 ranking.

The city generates over 400 tons of waste daily (comprising both company and non-company command areas). Wastes are generally disposed in the Bara landfill site in Sidhgora and near Jemco. While in Jusco areas organic waste are treated in the compost plant inside Jubilee Park.

“It is our ambitious project and we are looking forward to make it successful. The work of door-to-door waste collection would be carried out by a private agency. The vehicles along with the cleaning staff would go door-to door and collect domestic wastes,” he said.
