Smriti Irani to lay foundation for 70 projects at Gopal Maidan tomorrow
Jamshedpur, Aug. 17: The steel city is all set to witness the phase two of execution of MoU’s, signed this February during the Global Investors’ Summit in Ranchi.
An event is being organised on August 19 at Gopal Maidan in city where in corporate leaders, to Union ministers and state cabinet ministers will participate.
Ahead of the biz summit, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, ADC Sunil Kumar and other district officials reviewed the preparation at Gopal Maidan and urged the event management company to ensure everything is in place before the programme commences.
‘There will be no entry of heavy vehicles on the day of the biz summit on August 19 from 6 am to 10 pm. The main road from TMH to Voltas Building via Hotel Boulevard will be working as usual but the road towards Gopal Maidan will remian closed from 8 am to 4 pm’, said the DC.
The two-and-half-hour programme is scheduled to begin from 11.30 am where Union information and broadcasting and textile minister, Smriti Irani will be the chief guest.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das and the Union minister Smriti Irani will jointly lay foundation stone online for around 70 projects worth nearly Rs 2100-crore during the function.
Irani will be flying in to Jamshedpur along with chief minister Raghubar Das on August 19 morning.
After returning from Jamshedpur later in the evening on same day, she will be launching an apparel training center set up by Orient Craft Limited near Irba (Ormanjhi in Ranchi).
Incidentally, Orient Craft as per the MoU signed during the Global Investor’s Summit, will also set up an apparel unit and textile park on nearly 25 acre of land near Hotwar in Ranchi at an investment of Rs 200-crore.
Tata Steel MD TV Narendran also appreciated the effort of the state government to woo investors, stating that each state should make an effort to attract investors as they have many choices when they come to invest in India.
Talking to the media persons after unfurling the national flag at the company premises on August 15, Narendram said, “We have been witnessing activities to attract investors in eastern India including Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal,” he said.
Hailing the endeavour of the Jharkhand government, the industrial sector and the CII to promote industries, he said it was not an easy task to achieve the goal but certainly not impossible either.
On the investment being made by the government, he said more and more investments were being made by the government and public sector units in infrastructure sector, which was necessary but not sufficient.
Ahead of the event, state industry director K. Ravikumar visited Gopal Maidan on August 16 and reviewed the preparation for the biz summit and expressed satisfaction with the progress.
The 30,000 sq ft area of the German hangar pavilion will have wooden platform. The event management firm is trying its best to ensure that visitors do not face any problem due to foggy conditions at the ground in view of the rainy season.
The second phase of ‘Momentum Jharkhand’ will pave way for investment in Kolhan region.
Secretary Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada), Hari Kumar Keshri said that a major part of the investment would be in Seraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum districts of Kolhan region.
The event is going to pave way for new investment as two projects will be inaugurated while foundation stone will be laid for 70 projects during the function which would be attended by Union textile and information and broadcasting minister Smriti Irani and Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
