DC : Orders action against bus operators, issues show cause notices against 9 staff
Jamshedpur
: Deputy commissioner, Amitabh Kaushal, who conducted a surprise inspection at Sitaramdera bus terminus, the long-distance bus depot, expressed concerns over lack of basic facilities.

Kaushal who was accompanied by district additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Ganesh Kumar as part of the surprise inspection visited bus terminus, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) office and different city areas coming under the civic body.

After inspecting the bus terminus, he directed authorities of JNAC to commence process of auction of the bus terminus for the overall maintenance.

“ Lack of basic facilities like drinking water and boundary wall is ma tter of great concern. We have decided to auction the maintenance of the bus terminus into private hands and the funds generated from the auction will be used for improving its infrastructure,” the deputy commissioner said.

The Sitaramdera bus terminus on an average caters to over 100 long-distance buses that that head for places such as Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribagh in Jharkhand and Bengal, Odisha and Bihar.

The deputy commissioner also directed the district transport officer George Kumar to seize the long distance buses carrying goods in violation of their permits.

“We want to strictly follow the act and will act against those found to be flouting norms. The violators would have to pay a fine of Rs 5000 to release the bus. The drive will continue till the owners of such buses obey the rules,” said an official.

Meanwhile the administration will also crack against long-distance buses with tinted windows and windscreens.
The deputy commissioner also show caused nine staff of JNAC and ordered for withheld of their salaries as they were found absent from their duties.

The names of the missing staff are BK Rao , Vijay Kumar Tiwari , Trideshwar Prasad , Umesh Prasad , Vinod Singh Sardar , MKL Das , Archana Chaudhary , Vinod Tiwari and Kanika Saha .

He then visited different areas falling under JNAC command areas to check about cleaning activities by the civic body like Bagunnagar, Bhuiyandih, Bagunhatu, Baridih, Kadma, Sonari The areas where cleaning staff were not found in their duty was at Bagunhatu and Baridih.
