Jamshedpur, June 24: The city police arrested Sunny Singh ( 24), who was wanted in connection with the Dayanand Public School shooting case.

Sunny along with one of his associates, Vivek Kumar (20) was also nabbed from Mango in the wee hours of Friday.

The police also recovered a without number-plate scooter which the two were riding for escaping ever since the name of Sunny had figured in the shooting incident.

After arresting Sunny, (24) a team of senior police officers is interrogating him and his associate Vivek at Sakchi police station to dig as to from where they had got the pistols, which they had given to XI grader student of the Dayanand Public School.

Senior superintendent of police, Anoop T Mathew, who is leading the interrogation team said that Sunny was a member of notorious Guddu Pandey gang which is active in the steel city.

“We are grilling him but it is certain that it was Sunny who had given two pistols to a student of Dayanand Public School, causing the firing incident at the school on Wednesday, but now are trying to detect the source from which Sunny had procured the pistols,” said Mathew.

The senior SP said that Sunny and Vivek had handed over two pistols to the accused student two days for safety before the firing incident in the Dayanand Public School.

Significantly, Sunny is son of a homeguard jawan Ashok Singh residing in Subhas Colony, Mango, and now posted as driver of special public prosecutor Jai Prakash.

Police officials confirmed that Sunny is the son of one of the home-guard jawan Ashok Singh, who is posted as driver of a judicial official’s service in the Jamshedpur Court.

It may be noted that the 17-year-old student Sudhanshu Kumar of Sakchi-based Dayanand Public School was critically injured as he was shot at by a classmate in the classroom before the assembly session of the school on Wednesday.
