DAV NIT and Koylanagar win Zonal Handball and Cricket Tournament

Jamshedpur, Nov 25: On the closing day of under 19 Zonal Cricket and Handball Tournament at the DAV Public School, NIT, DAV Public School, Koylanagar (Boys) won the final match of the tournament defeating DAV Public School, NIT by 8 wickets.

Batting first after winning the toss, DAV Public School, NIT decided to bat first and the team set
a target of 70 runs for DAV Public School, Koylanagar.

Indranil Kundu of DAV Public School, NIT played very well throughout the tournament and was awarded the “the man of the series” while Om Prakash Singh of DAV Public School, Koylanagar, was adjudged the Best Bowler of the tournament and Adarsh the MOM. In the Handball (Boys) DAV Public School, NIT won the final against DAV Public School, Hazaribagh by a margin of 23—13 while the DAV Public School, Hazaribagh (Girls) beat DAV Public School, NIT by 15—5.

A. K. Sharma, principal, DAV Public School, Gua and the manager of the Local Managing Committee, DAV Public School, NIT was the chief guest on this occasion while V K Singh, coordinator, Jharkhand Zone 1, Ashok Kumar, coordinator, Jharkhand Zone 2, and A. K Singh, coordinator, Jharkhand Zone 4, were the guests of honour.

S P Sharma, the principal of DAV Public School, NIT earlier welcomed the guests and other dignitaries and expressed his gratitude to all the participants for their cooperation and positive attitude towards sports.

In the end, the chief guest handed over the trophies to the winner as well as runner teams and their mentors. He also blessed the participating players of the tournament and congratulated them and thereby declared the tournament close.

Amit Kumar, Tridev Biswas, Anil Kumar, Kavita Swain and Jayshree Lenka played a commendable role in making the programme a success.
