Ansari has also set up a court of inquiry into the incident and has ordered assistant security commissioner, RPF, SK Chaudhury to conduct the inquiry into the circumstance leading to the custodial death.
“Yes I have suspended the RPF officials as the custodial death has taken place when they were on duty. The incident is a matter of concern for us. The administration is conducting an enquiry into the incident, but I have set up a court of inquiry into the incident.
The court of inquiry, headed by assistant security commissioner, RPF, SK Chaudhury has to probe to give its findings in three weeks time,” said Ansari.
Kamal who was a resident of Gurudwara Line at Jemco in Telco was on Wednesday morning was nabbed from his house by the RPF officials after a theft took place in the Tatanagar yard in Laxmi Nagar in the previous night. The youth was found hanging from an iron rod at the RPF post’s lock up.
Initially, the deceased was identified as Shyamal Gope a resident of Laxmi Nagar, Telco, but later his brother Amar Singh Sardar and mother Heera Singh Sardarin identified the body at the MGM Medical College mortuary and said that he was Kamal Singh Sardar.
On Thursday, a post-mortem was conducted by a three-member medical board under videography in presence of an executive magistrate following the Parsudih police had registered a case of unnatural death. The police had mentioned in the inquest that it was a suicidal case and still they had recommended for the autopsy under a medical board as it was a custodial death.
Though the post mortem report will be made available to the police in the next three or four days, the sources in the forensic department of the MGM Medical College revealed that the deceased had been assaulted.
Meanwhile, after taking the body from the post-mortem house in the evening, the family members and local residents set up a blockade at the Jemco Chowk in Telco late in the evening in protest of the custodial death.
The blockade was set up at about 8.30 pm on Thursday and was lifted at about 10.30 pm after senior police officials assured the protestors that they would punish the RPF officials if it is established that Kamal was subjected to torture.
