Seraikela: Chief Minister Raghubar Das will lay the foundation of a barrage to be constructed by the water resources department over Sanjay river in Dugni under Gamharia block on October 13. The barrage construction cost will come up to Rs 95.43 crore. The barrage will help irrigate 458.68 hectare of cultivated land in eight villages of Gamharia block including Donda, Simalbeda, Rangamatiya, Chumaru, Nengatasai, Guda, Rangatand and Ujjainpur.
According to official release, five gates which will run on computerized system will be built over Dugni barrage. The construction work will start in November 2018 and is scheduled to be completed by October 2020.
The project will bring green revolution in the state. The foundation laying ceremony will be held at Kashi Sahu College ground. At the event to be held on Saturday, minister of drinking water and sanitation Chandraprakash Choudhary, local MP and BJP state president Laxman Gilua, MLA Champai Soren, Zila Parishad chairperson Shakuntala Mahali will be present. CM Das is slated to lay foundation of 16 development schemes worth Rs 194.42 crore.
On the eve of the event, Arun Kumar Singh of water resources department, Sereikela DC Chhavi Ranjan along with SP Chandan Kumar Sinha and senior administrative officials visited Kashi Sahu College to take stock of the preparation for the foundation laying ceremony and gave necessary orders to make the ceremony successful.
DC on the occasion ordered the concerned officers to complete the work within the given time frame. He also asked to step the security in the region in view of the visit of the CM.
Block development officers of Serikela, Kharsawan, Gamharia and Rajnagar were asked to have presence of 200 women and villagers from aanganbari sevika, sahiya and self help group at the event to be held in Kashi Sahu College ground.
