Jamshedpur: A public awareness campaign on cleanliness was launched in Bhatin village of Jadugora on Thursday under the aegis of National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSICL), Adityapur. Representatives of Tribal Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries and local villagers participated in the campaign titled ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Hai’. The drive was led by the manager of NSICL Dinesh Kumar who cleaned the main road and several other places with broom. Bleaching powder was sprinkled at various places to prevent mosquito breeding. Several bottles of disinfectants were also distributed among the villages.
In his address, Dinesh Kumar said it was important to keep the village clean to prevent outbreak of epidemic diseases.
Many villagers participated in the campaign. They included Khelaram Murmu, Basant Tirkey, Baidyanath Mardi and Jaspal Sirka.
Meanwhile, a sit and draw contest was also organized at Bhatin Panchayat Bhavan. A total of 29 children participated in the contest. Out of them, 10 participants were awarded by the guests. The chief guest of the event was the senior branch manager of NSCI Vikram Kumar Mitra. Those who received the prize included Sita Murmu, Karu Murmu, Anil Murmu, Fulai Murmu, Sagun Sore, Dula Murmu, Viram Soren, Sangita Murmu and Sumit Soren.
