Jamshedpur, Aug 18: The two day classical music and dance festival organized at the Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) Auditorium concluded today amidst fanfare. 15 artistes from Jamshedpur and other places of the country participated in this two day fest.
The second day’s proceedings were inaugurated by Jharkhand Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Roy jointly with RD Dwivedy, Akhilesh Dubey, Bhut Nath Dey and Aniruddha Sen by lighting the traditional lamp.
The program commenced with Bharat Natyam presentations by Veena Sheshadri from Bengaluru. She performed Shiv Dhyan Shlok, Jatiswaram, Dewarnama and a recital based on Raga Behag. She also presented a dance recital on a Bhajan number based on Adi Tala. In her Dewarnama recital she depicted the mischief of Sri Krishna and His Ras Lila in Brindavan.
Mahua Chatterjee from Kolkata presented classical songs in her silken voice but with masterly variations that won plaudits during her performance. She presented a composition on Raga Maru Vihag in Vilambit Ek Taala and Drut Teen Tala in Bandish. She completed her presentation with a Thumri. Amitabh Sen accompanied Mahua on tabla.
The final event of the concluding event was a sitar recital by world famed maestro Subroto Dey. He was accompanied on the tabla by internationally acclaimed tabaliya by Pandit Proshanto De Roy and both the artistes spelt a magical web that had the audience glued to their seats. They filled the auditorium with thunderous clapping at the end of each of the duo’s recital. The Sawal Jawaab (Question and Answer) and Saath Sangat sent the elite audience into raptures of delight.
Proshanto played the Alaap, Jod, Jhala followed by Madhya Laya in Teen Tala, Jhap Tala and Drut Teen Tala. His Drut Jhala, Sur and Tala were blended to a connoisseur’s delight. He concluded his performance with Raga Mallika.
The program was anchored with expertise by Arunima Bose. The organizers of the event included members of UP Sangh Jamshedpur, DD Kendra Ranchi, Bhut Nath Dey, Kavita Dey, Subhash Bose, Amitabh Sen and Harprasad Mukherjee.
