Jamshedpur: Kurmi Samaj members will be felicitating city girl Khushi Mahato at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi during a two day cultural event. A Tusu crown will be presented to Khushi who is also going to participate in the event. This was informed by Kurmi Samaj members on Wednesday.
The event organizers said the programme ‘Mahur Dand Aguyan’ is being organized with the view to raise various demands of the Kurmi community. During the event that would be held on 21st and 22nd November, local artists would perform at Jantar Mantar. More than 50,000 people are expected to attend the event.
The organizers said Scheduled Tribe status to Kurmis and inclusion of Kurmali language in the Constitution’s Eighth Schedule are the main demands that would be raised at the upcoming event.
Khushi, a resident of Hurlung, has carved a niche for herself in the South Indian film industry. She has participated in several beauty contests and has several achievements to her name. Active in modeling, Khushi has recently worked in a Punjabi album. Her album named Tequila was also released overseas.
